Jacob’s ordination is sealed with blood when Father Brentwood’s body is discovered, murdered in the narthex during the ceremony. Jacob doesn’t believe a man as saintly as him can have enemies so deadly. But when a pregnant Rebecca is found crying over the body, he realizes he may not have known his mentor as well as he thought. Or perhaps it is the Order into which he is newly inducted that proves the greater mystery. Taken into the fold, Jacob uncovers a plot more sacrilegious than the heterodoxy they preach, and redemption is as elusive as the head of the Trinity.
